A little background for Esme: Esme came from a shelter in Texas and was on the euthanasia list. She came to me as a shy and scared dog, but as she got more comfortable, her sweet and gentle personality really shone through.
Since Esme was timid but so loving, I chose a colour palette that wasn’t too bright or too elaborate to reflect her personality. I settled on a dusty pink and muted green combo. To make this brand personal to her, I designed illustrations of Esme from reference photos I took of her. I also designed a few other illustrations that represented her cute and gentle personality, such as butterflies, hearts, bows, and flowers.
I decided on a pretty, serif font that I customized by looping the ‘t’ in Sweet and the ‘e’ in Esme, to mimic a dog’s tail.
Together, these elements build a brand that reflects Esme’s gentle soul.
To bring this brand to life, I printed the brand pattern and her logo on a bandana and a pair of socks. A reminder that branding goes way beyond a screen, and can become something that people can see, feel, and connect with. Esme went to her forever home with her customized bandana. I kept the socks for myself, hehe.
